D&B's North American Million Dollar Database provides the
information professional, marketer and sales executive with information on
approximately 1,600,000 U.S. and Canadian leading public and private
businesses. Company information includes industry information with up to 24
individual 8-digit SICs, size criteria (employees and annual sales), type of
ownership, principal executives and biographies.
D&B's International Million Dollar Database (IMDDI) is the
answer for those research professionals who require information on over
1,600,000 international companies. Find SIC, total employees, legal status,
annual US sales dollar equivalent, and more, plus identify up to four (4)
executives on the world's largest entities. Search, lookup, report and download
this information with just a few mouse clicks.
"Why am I being prompted for a new password?"
On October 16th, 2004, D&B installed new security
enhancements for the MDDI.

"What does the message 'Search Expired' mean?"
After 20 minutes of inactivity, your database session will be
terminated. To re-start your session, press your cursor on either the D&B
MDDI or D&B IMDDI link on either the error message or the Home Page.
"Why does my User ID get locked?"
If a User ID is used on more than one computer at one time, the
User ID will get locked. To avoid this situation, always press the Logoff
button found on every screen when you are finished with your session.
If your User ID gets locked, exit your Browser software and
re-enter the http://www.dnbmdd.com or http://www.dnbimdd.com site after 20
minutes. As long as the ID is not being used elsewhere, you should be able to
re-establish your session.
"How do I download information from the site?"
After submitting a search, the results are returned to the
screen. When pressing the Output button on the Record View or Company Detail
screens, a list of export and print options will be shown. Note: If no export
options are shown, your subscription agreement does not include the ability to
download information from the site.
After selecting an export option and identifying which records
you want to output, a brief pause will occur while the information is prepared
on the database server. When the file is ready, you will receive a screen
similar to the one below. (Note: The two windows below are examples of the
screen that will appear. The screen that appears will be different depending
upon what Internet Browser you are using.)

Example 1: After pressing the Save File button (marked in Red),
you will be provided a standard window to specify which directory on your PC to
save the file.

Example 2: After selecting Save it to disk (marked in Red) and
pressing the OK button, you will be provided a standard window to specify which
directory on your PC to save the file.
You must change the file name from *.csv to something
unique. For example, jacks.csv. It is important that you remember the
directory and file name so that you can access the file at a later time.
When you want to access this file at a later date, initialize the
spreadsheet or database application of your choice. You can import the file by
specifying the file name, and if you are required to, the type of file. Make
sure to select comma-delimited. Comma delimited means that each separate data
field, is separated by commas. Quotes are also contained in the file which are
used to surround the contents of each piece of data.
"After I download an export file, how can I utilize the file in another application?"
Note: The availability of the export options is determined by
your Subscription Agreement.
As mentioned earlier, the file produced in the Export process is
a Comma Separated Value file (csv). This file can be best incorporated into
spreadsheet and database applications. For example, the file can be opened
directly in Microsoft Excel. Once the file is open, the columns may need
re-sizing. This can be accomplished by highlighting the table columns and
selecting Format and then Column from the menu bar.
Select AutoFit Selection and the columns will automatically
resize.
In Microsoft Access create a new database. Select File
from the menu bar. Then select Get External Data followed by Import.
You can then designate the file that you downloaded from the site. An Import
Wizard will appear walking you through the required steps.
"How can I print company information?"
You presently have two options. Option 1 is to
print exactly what appears on the screen. This is most helpful when viewing the
detail of a company record. This type of printing can be initiated by pressing
the Print button on your Browser's tool bar or by selecting File,
Print from the menu bar. This option will print exactly what is on
your screen at that time.
Option 2 is a new feature just recently added. When
pressing the Output button on the Search Result Screen or the Company Record
view, you will be provided a list of print options. These options will produce
a screen that will resemble a formatted report. When the page is fully
displayed, you can print the report by pressing the Print button found on your
Browser's tool bar. This option is most helpful when you have more than one
record to print.
"Who should I call for more information regarding the site and its contents?"
"How can I provide suggestions on improving the site or notify D&B of problems being experienced?"
